Welcome to the latest issue of the Lansing Edition of Geoff Wilbur's Renegade Newsletter. There are a lot of exciting things going on here at the Renegade. I'm pleased to bring you an interview with Bad Attitude, a band featured in the November 1997 Industry Edition of Geoff Wilbur's Renegade Newsletter whose debut album is due out this fall -- and whose record deal was inked as a direct result of their coverage in Renegade Industry Editions.
We're also pleased to announce that CD Baby has established a site where Renegade readers can subscribe to the Renegade online via credit card. Now, you have can charge a Renegade subscription to your credit card, if you prefer that to using the subscription form on page 8. The URL is http://www.cdbaby.com/order/renegade.htm. Also, check out CD Baby's CD store at http://www.cdbaby.com.
And finally, let's not forget about the big move! The Renegade has moved its headquarters from East Lansing, Michigan to Newport, Rhode Island. Of course, other than the new mailing address, there won't be any major changes -- the Renegade will continue to publish quarterly and on-street distrubition of the printed Lansing Edition will continue to be in Lansing, Michigan. The only tangible result is the delay of this issue being placed online until after we had a final new address and e-mail address. So... the new Renegade mailing address is 580 Thames Street, Suite 449, Newport, RI 02840, and the new Renegade e-mail address is renegade@efortress.com.
About me: Since 1989, my articles have been published in several states and in two foreign countries. During that time, I have seen many outstanding bands go unnoticed. It is my goal to introduce as many of these great bands as possible to interested fans and music industry insiders. Therefore, with your support, I bring the best of the music industry to Lansing, while introducing the national music industry to the best of Lansing's local music scene. If you like what you read, see the subscription information on page 8 for our reasonable subscription rates. Thanks for reading!
Cheers!
Geoff Wilbur
P.S. As some of you know -- I make no secret of it -- I have a day job in addition to publishing Geoff Wilbur's Renegade Newsletter. Most of the reason for the deadline difficulties this issue is my recent day job change. I was frequently told I was insane for attempting to do Renegade business as usual while moving, and it appears that I was, indeed, insane. In any case, this issue is printed for our loyal subscribers and will be publicly available via our website (http://membrane.com/renegade) and, for a couple dozen lucky readers, publicly. The move is a culmination of a year's worth of job hunting -- a couple hundred resumes and a dozen interviews (all while working full time) will chew up a lot of time, especially while keeping it all secret from my recent former "day job" employer, so Renegade growth was slowed. My new employer is a big fan of outside interests like the Renegade. And, now that I'm getting settled in, I can devote the necessary time to the Renegade once again. As of right now, we're back on schedule. Thanks again for your patience, and please enjoy another great issue! I know I enjoy bringing Geoff Wilbur's Renegade Newsletter to you!
